Making Mummies
Now that I'm in Tanis I can make a mummy and get my next clue!!!
I am on my fifth day in ancient egypt and I am about to learn how to mummify a mummy. I first went to meet a person who specialized in mummies. He told me that the reasons for mummies was that they believed that you needed your body to go to the afterlife. They also believed it actually could animate a statue of the dead person, or much better, the body of the dead person. And that's why mummification took place, so that the body would be preserved to host the soul. They viewed mummification as a positive because they highly believed in the afterlife. Then the man told me to visit a priest to learn about what they did. The priest told me that on a normal day he would help the pharaoh look over everybody. Egyptian priests did have a vital role in the religious ritual of daily and festival life. Egyptian priest offered and performed material and ritually magic services to the god of his temple, to ensure that gods presence would continue on earth, and thus maintain the harmony and order of the world as it had been created. That was why the priests were called "servants of the god," the traditional title for a priest. They were similar to the Mesopotamia priests because they both tried to please the gods, so there would be know problems in the civilization. He also told me that there were myths that were related to their religion. The myth that when you went to the afterlife you would first have to Throughout the underworld journey, the deceased’s spirit would have to contend with gods, strange creatures and gatekeepers to reach Osiris and the Hall of Final Judgment. Here they would plead their case for entry into the afterlife. The ancient Egyptians believed you had to spend a lifetime doing good deeds to reach the afterlife. That is why there were not many crimes committed.
He also informed me who the well known gods were in Ancient Egypt. Khnum, Anubis, Sebek, Hathor, Montu, Min, Ma'at, Neith, Nut, Ra, Amun, Osisris, Ptah, Sekhmet, Seth, Nephthys, Isis, Osiris, Maat, Horus, and Thoth were all known for something unique. He told me one last thing before he said I could return to the mummy specialist to mummify my first mummy. The thing he told me was Ancient Egyptian religion was an important part of everyday life for all Egyptians (rich and poor), they built a great many temples and had shrines in their homes. The term used to describe ancient Egyptian theology is Polytheism, which means that they believed in many Gods. Religion played a huge role on how the egyptians lived. First of all they did not commit crimes because they would know they would not make it to the afterlife. The fact that they were polytheistic so they believed in multiple gods. Finally I got to make my first mummy.

The second step was to remove the brain by using a long hook to get the brain out. I stuck the long hook up his left nostril and mushed the brain and liquified it so the brain would come spewing out of the nostril.
Step 2

The next step was to cut the left side of the body to take out the internal organs. So I somehow got the will power to cut the body open and pull out the liver, lungs, stomach and intestines. Then I washed and packed the organs in natron which will allow them to dry out.
Step 3

The first step to mummification was to embalm the body which meant to wash the body with good-smelling palm wine and rinse it with water from the Nile. Then we dried the body in natron.
Step 4

Then we put all the intestines and organs into jars called canopic jars that had a design on them
Step 5

The mummy would then finally be wrapped. Spells were being casted on the mummy to protect the body. Then they put a mask on the head. If you were high class, you got a nicely decorated mask, if you were not wealthy you would just get your face painted and the mask was made out of linen.
